And yet I do agree with you. Sad but true, blogging is mostly detached and impersonal. Nothing can take the place of personal flesh and blood relationships.

Have a great week :-)

~RonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8299409348701300460.post-58305625068699536752011-01-17T16:00:08.035+00:002011-01-17T16:00:08.035+00:00There are also people of all ages and sexes, who b...There are also people of all ages and sexes, who both blog and write, who send email messages to family, friends and acquaintances and send Actual Christmas Cards. These same people also collect vinyl, CDs and download onto the gadget of the moment.
Perhaps this is hedging your bets, or maybe schizophrenia, or perhaps simply that keeping and collecting a bit of everything will just prove that "what goes around, comes around"Ray Barneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09209429097744326143noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8299409348701300460.post-69578739640992443902011-01-17T15:19:52.816+00:002011-01-17T15:19:52.816+00:00I am with you all the way - but I am one of those ...I am with you all the way - but I am one of those people who loves rows of books, rows of everything - perhaps I am vain, or just deluded!

As regards sleeve-notes, I agree too - they add a dimension to the music, and it is always important to know that the drummer uses Zildijan drums. Seriously though, System of a Down covers are works of art in their own right, and most Queen sleeve notes are amusing! I am reading 1984 at the moment and the concept of it being against the law to write a journal with pen and ink intrigues me.

I had an interesting online conversation with a friend and his friend on facebook. He posted a pic of the CD case for an audiobook of Keith Richard's autobiography. He was berated for not downloading it from iTunes.

I still buy all music on CD, usually cheaper than download, comes with a free CD thrown in to the bargain! I get to see the artwork and read the booklet. Who is getting thanks for years of support? And by that time it is on my iPhone and I can listen to it as I walk.

As for audiobooks? I spend large parts of my life staring at a computer reading and writing stuff for church. There is something about picking up 1984 and leafing through it. The smell of the paper. The feel of it in your fingers. iBooks and Kindle just don't cut it for me unless I am stuck on a bus and it is all I can get.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
